About
My name is Jeremy, and I started Roughly Simple Timbers in 2021 with a simple goal: to build structures that last while bringing dream buildings to life.
The seed for Roughly Simple Timbers was planted years earlier—after my service in the Army, during my time in industrial construction. That work had its moments, but it often felt cold and lifeless. I wanted to create something different—something warmer, more inviting, something that truly felt alive.
That search led me to big timber construction. Unlike steel and concrete, heavy timbers have soul. They carry warmth, character, and craftsmanship. To me, timber construction isn’t just building—it’s an art form.
In 2016, I pursued that passion while earning my Construction Management degree at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. I also studied timber framing at the Shelter Institute in Maine and gained hands-on experience working for a post-and-beam manufacturing company, where I learned the ins and outs of the trade.
Some people walk through life never finding their art, their passion. But I have—and for me, it’s big timber construction.
I’ve been humbled by the compliments I’ve received and the reputation I’m building as someone who treats every detail with care, because to me, the details define the quality of the work. In Nebraska, there are only a handful of builders who specialize in big timber—and when you talk to me, you’ll see right away the difference that passion and craftsmanship make.
I don’t do this work because I have to—I do it because I love it. Every morning, I’m excited to pull onto the job site, and every evening, I drive away proud of what’s been created.
At the heart of it all is one goal: making your dream come true is my dream.
